The Insight: A 2-year-old knows “fairness” before they know the word “fair.” Morality is pre-installed firmware, not a downloaded app.
1. The Experiment
Take two toddlers. They are pre-verbal. They don’t know “law,” “ethics,” or “Kant.” Give one toddler three cupcakes. Give the other toddler one cupcake.
Watch what happens.
The child with one cupcake doesn’t just calculate “1 < 3.” They feel Indignation. They scream. They point. They know—in their bones—that a rule has been broken.
What rule? They haven’t been taught it. They can’t speak it. But they defend it with their lungs.
2. The Implication
If morality were a “social construct” (like driving on the right side of the road), you would have to teach it. You have to teach a child to say “Please.” You have to teach a child to use a fork. You do not have to teach a child to spot injustice.
The Moral Law is BIOS, not Software. It is burned into the chip.
3. The Math-Moral Connection
That toddler recognized two things simultaneously:
- The Math: (1 is not equal to 3).
- The Moral: (Unequal distribution is Wrong).
They didn’t separate them. “Wrong Math” felt like “Wrong Morality.”
This is because they come from the same Source.
- Truth (Math) is how reality is.
- Justice (Morality) is how reality ought to be.
The Logos is the source of both. When the math is off (injustice), the soul detects it like a dissonant chord in music.
4. The Verdict
The toddler proves that Justice is a physical property of the universe, just like Gravity. You don’t “invent” Gravity. You respect it, or you fall. You don’t “invent” Justice. You respect it, or you crash.
We are born knowing the rules of the house because we were made by the Architect.
